Roberto Soncin Gerometta was born in Venice, Italy, where his father was head of the Office of Tourism for thirty-five years. He completed classic studies at the University of Padua, where he received a Doctorate in Law. After practicing law in Italy for seven years, he abandoned the profession to become a full-time photographer, realizing that photography was his true passion and calling. An inveterate traveler, his camera always in hand to capture a world or a moment, his wanderings eventually brought him to San Francisco, which he discovered to be “a vibrant and vivid city of the Pacific Rim,” where he now resides. A full-time professional photographer, Soncin Gerometta’s work is represented worldwide by Lonely Planet Images and Alamy. He has been published widely in Europe, the United States and Australia. His photography was also featured in Seasons of the Vineyard, an intimate look at the Robert Mondavi Winery and the contribution of the Mondavi family to the wine and food culture of California’s Napa Valley. Roberto contributes regularly to the marketing efforts of some of the leading travel companies in the US: Backroads, Country Walkers, Grand Circle Travel, and Overseas Adventure Travel, where his travel and adventure photography appears in their catalogues and brochures. He also works on assignment for a number of editorial and corporate clients.
